Where Motorists Will Encounter Road Construction in Framingham

Below is a list of Town of Framingham and MassDOT road construction projects the week of October 5 in Framingham.

Construction schedules are weather permitting.

• AUBURN STREET: Contractors will continue sidewalk curbing. Expect minimal traffic impacts.
• BELKNAP ROAD: It is anticipated that a SAMI (Stress Absorbing Membrane Application) and NovaChip roadway application will be applied. Expect significant delays.
• BROWNLEA AND OLD CONNECTICUT PATH: Eversource will be replacing gas main services during the day in the area. Work will be performed in the overnight hours of 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. during the main tie-in to Old Connecticut Path early in the week. Expect delays.
• CENTRAL STREET BRIDGE OVER THE SUDBURY RIVER: Day work: Construction of the new bridge will continue. Traffic will continue to be detoured over the Wickford Road Bridge. Please allow additional travel time.
• COBURN STREET/WINTHROP STREET AREA: Contractors will be paving Bethany Road, Bridges Street, Clifford Street, Cypress Street and a portion of Coburn Street. A one-way alternating traffic pattern will be utilized during paving operations. Seek an alternate route if possible. Expect significant delays.
• CREST ROAD: It is anticipated that a SAMI and NovaChip roadway application will be applied to the roadway. Expect significant delays.
• DOWNTOWN FRAMINGHAM RECONSTRUCTION: Sidewalk work will continue on Hollis Street, Irving Street and Waverly Street as well as installation of traffic signal and street lighting poles in the Downtown area. Expect moderate delays and on-street parking restrictions.
• EVERSOURCE DOWNTOWN UTILITY PROJECT: The contractor will continue nighttime conduit installation on Hollis Street, Monday through Friday from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. Expect moderate delays.
• GATES STREET: It is anticipated that a SAMI and NovaChip roadway application will be applied to the roadway. Expect significant delays.
• MAIN STREET: Utility contractors will continue construction work on Granite Street and Maple Street. Traffic plans may include one-way alternating traffic and/or detours. Expect traffic delays on affected roadways. Police details will be on site to facilitate traffic. In addition, Eversource Gas will be working on Main Street between the intersection of Walnut Street and Union Avenue. Traffic plans may include one-way alternating traffic and/or detours.
• ROUTE 9 BRIDGE OVER FOSS RESERVOIR OUTLET: Construction continues on the middle section of the bridge. The westbound pedestrian sidewalk will remain closed. Expect moderate delays.
• UNION AVENUE: Eversource Gas will be replacing the gas main and services from Walnut Street to Proctor Street. Expect delays.
• WATER STREET: Contractors will be installing new street lights near the intersection of Central Street. Expect minimal delays.
• WOODMERE ROAD: It is anticipated that a SAMI and NovaChip roadway application will be applied. Expect significant delays.
