Where You Will Find Road Construction in Framingham

Framingham DPW issues traffic alert for road construction projects the first week in August.

The projects are both Town of Framingham and MassDOT projects.

  • AUBURN STREET AREA: Survey work, structure removal and cold planing will begin in preparation of roadway reconstruction. Expect minimal traffic impact.
  • CENTRAL STREET BRI DGE OVER THE SUDBURY RIVER: Construction of the new bridge will continue. Traffic will continue to be detoured over the Wickford Road Bridge. Please allow additional travel time.
  • COBURN STREET AREA: The contractor will continue drain pipe and structure work on Cypress Street and Cedar Street. Sidewalk excavation and curbing work will continue in the area as well. Expect delays.
  • CONCORD STREET (Route 126) DOWNTOWN FRAMINGHAM RECONSTRUCTION: The MassDOT contractor will continue construction activities on Hollis Street, Concord Street and Irving Street. Expect moderate delays and on-street parking restrictions.
  • DYER STREET: Open to local residents only during water main installation work.
  • EVERSOURCE DOWNTOWN UTILITY PROJECT: The contractor will continue night work Monday through Friday evening, from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. on manhole installations on Hollis Street near Claflin Street and head North towards Irving Street. Expect moderate delays.
  • MAIN STREET: The contractor will continue to install water services on Main Street between Walnut Street and Union Avenue. A detour will be in place Monday-Friday 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. on this section of the roadway. Please seek alternate route. Expect delays.Night work will continue Sunday-Thursday 7 p.m. until 5 a.m. between Franklin Street and High Street. One-way alternating traffic will be implemented on this section of the roadway. Police details will be on site to facilitate traffic. Expect moderate delays.
  • NICHOLAS ROAD: A Hot Mix Asphalt leveler course is scheduled for Tuesday, August 4, and casting adjustments and finish paving is scheduled for Thursday, August 6, 2015. Expect moderate delays.
  • OLD WORCESTER ROAD AREA: Sidewalk restoration work will continue. Expect minimal delays.
  • ROUTE 9 BRIDGE OVER FOSS RESERVOIR OUTLET: Construction continues on the middle section of the bridge. The westbound pedestrian sidewalk will remain closed. Expect moderate delays.
  • WATER STREET: The contractor will continue sidewalk work on river side (west) followed by roadway restoration. Expect moderate delays during roadway restoration.
  • WINTER STREET BRIDGE OVER CSX: The MassDOT contractor will continue work on the temporary sewer bypass and prepare the site for construction to begin. Expect minimal delays.
