Wildcats Sprint To Victory Over Flyers

Junior captain Paul Halberstadt lead the Flyers in points winning the 400 hurdles, taking second in the javelin and third in the long jump.

The Framingham High boys track team lost to Weymouth 95-40 this week.

“The score does not tell the whole tale,” said head coach Chris Collins. “Several members of the Flyers and two captains were at AP exams.”

He placed first in the 400 hurdles in 62.2 seconds, second in the javelin with a throw of 128-feet and 1-inch and third in the long jump with a leap of 18-feet, 2-inches.

Senior Vinicius Tavares finished first in the 200 meter race in 11.2 seconds. His time qualified him for the state meet, said Collins.

Junior Marc Umumbu won the discus event with a throw of 156-feet, 6-inches, which is now the second best throw in the state, said Collins.

Chris Elliott captured second place in the discus for the Flyers with a throw of 106-feet, 11-inches.

Junior Chris Barone won the half-mile race in 2:02.6 minutes.

Junior captain Mike McDonald won the mile race in 4:34.2 minutes.
