Yellow Dress Performances Help Students Identify Unheathy Relationships

The one-woman show about the progression of an abusive relationship was staged at MassBay Community College in Framingham and Wellesely.

This week, students on the campus of Mass Bay Community College, in both Wellesley and Framingham, were invited to a performance of The Yellow Dress.

The Yellow Dress is a powerful one-woman drama that stimulates a thought-provoking discussion about relationships. The actress portrays the progression of an abusive relationship, starting with young love and
ending in tragedy.

More than 50 people attended the Framingham performance.

Several students said it was very powerful and moving, said Liz Cooper, the College’s Assistant Director of Communications. ”Some of the audience was moved to tears. It was really well done.”

Cooper said there were discussions after the performances at both campuses.

β€œThe play lead the students to discuss what role they can play as bystanders or friends that might be in similar situations. They also talked about the signs that someone might be in an unhealthy or violent relationship,” said Cooper.
