Walsh Middle School teacher Marguerite Simpson-Lackard, was one of 23 Framingham School employees honored at the 23rd Annual Salute to Framingham.

The annual Salute program recognizes Framingham teachers and staff who go the extra mile to make each day “special” in our public schools. These teachers and staff are given a “You Are Special” designation and are publicly recognized as part of the Salute to Framingham.

Editor’s note: Framingham Patch plans to publish all 23 honorees profiles between now and the end of the school year, so the community can recognize the employee. Below is the profile of Simpson-Lackard, as it was read to the sold-out crowd of more than 500 people Thursday, March 26.

Marguerite has been instrumental in many programs throughout the Walsh community. She has served as a Positive Behavioral Interventions & Supports coach for the past three years. She has been integral in providing enthusiasm and support for developing, teaching and reinforcing our core values throughout every aspect of the Walsh community. She consistently provides enthusiasm for weekly motivational videos that are shown each week in every homeroom at Walsh. Marguerite is an essential part of the supportive community at Walsh Middle School. Marguerite is a founding member of the Walsh mentoring program. This program matches up over forty members of the Walsh faculty with students who would benefit from having an adult mentor in their lives. Marguerite helps to coordinate the pairs, along with mentoring activities throughout the year.

Marguerite’s dedication to the betterment of the Framingham community reaches beyond the walls of Walsh. She is an active member of the Great Framingham Community Church. Marguerite coordinates many service projects with the youth of her church, as well as volunteering at events such as the Martin Luther King Service Day at Mass Bay Community College each year.

Marguerite’s knowledge, compassion and sense of humor help us make it through the tough times and get us through some of the difficult days. We thank Marguerite for her dedication to our students, staff and families.

Walsh would not be the same without her.
