Black Friday Snow Could Outdo Pre-Thanksgiving Storm in Hamilton and Wenham
Up to 4 inches of snow could fall in Hamilton and Wenham on Friday, outdoing the much-hyped pre-Thanksgiving storm.
A line of snow showers Thanksgiving night could end up dropping more snow along the North Shore coast than fell in the hyped pre-Thanksgiving storm.
While a foot of snow or more fell in northern New England and western Massachusetts on Wednesday, the coast, including Hamilton and Wenham saw just a slushy coating of snow. A Thursday evening storm, though, could deliver up to 4 inches.
The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory on Thursday afternoon, going into effect at 1 a.m. on Friday. The advisory runs down the Massachusetts coast, from Cape Ann to the South Shore, including the North Shore and Boston and runs until noon on Friday.

Accumulation of 2-4 inches is expected, starting after midnight and lasting through midday Friday, according to the weather service. The storm will cause “slippery travel on untreated roads and sidewalks, as well as bridges and overpasses,” according to the weather service.
As of Thursday afternoon, forecasters said they were still somewhat unsure about whether the snow will accumulate to 2-4 inches or miss the area entirely.

“There is some uncertainty on exactly where this snowband will setup along with its duration and intensity,” the NWS stated. “Therefore a forecast shift in as little as 25 miles would result in most of the snow remaining offshore with little impact to eastern Massachusetts.”
There is a 30 percent chance of up to 6 inches of snow if the snowband is persistent, according to forecasters.
