Faculty Artist Series - Phillips Recital Hall
String quartet recital hosted by the Department of Music at Gordon College

On Monday, February 6, 2023 Gordon's acclaimed applied string and chamber music faculty will perform Mozart’s effervescent String Quartet No. 19 in C major KV 465 “Dissonance” and Samuel Coleridge-Taylor’s Five Fantasiestücke Op. 5 for string quartet. Featuring Sarita Kwok, Adams Endowed Chair in Music, on violin; Megumi Lewis, violin; Stephanie Fong, viola; Rafael Popper-Keizer, cello. The recital beings at 7:30 p.m. in the Phillips Recital Hall on the campus of Gordon College. This event is free and open to the public. Seating is available on a first-come first-serve basis and free parking is accessible by both the A.J. Gordon Chapel parking lot off Grapevine Rd., or adjacent to the Phillips Music Center in the Ken Olsen Science Center parking lot off Princemere Drive. Email questions to info@gordon.edu.

The Phillips Recital Hall, designed by William L. Rawn (world renowned architect behind Boston Symphony Orchestra's Seiji Ozawa Hall at Tanglewood) is a model of optimal acoustic performance and architectural creativity, and continues to astound audiences and performers alike. Two Steinway D concert grand pianos (an American [New York] and a Hamburg) are housed in the hall, along with a Kawai grand piano. Seating around 140 people and featuring a full side of the hall with a windowed view of Coy Pond and the Gordon Woods, the Phillips Recital Hall offers an intimate performance experience to both the performer and audience member.
