Hamilton-Wenham Volleyball Takes a Hard-Fought Loss to Lynnfield

The girls won't hit the court again until Oct. 23.

Thursday’s volleyball match between Hamilton-Wenham Regional High School and Lynnfield High School went the distance, and the Generals found themselves on the losing end.

Lynnfield claimed the five set victory (21-25, 25-22, 25-20, 24-26, 12-15), after an “intense (in a good way)“ match, according to coach Jennifer Flynn. The Generals’ record stands at 9-6 on the season.

Sophomore outside hitter Ali Kimball had 11 kills and 17 digs, while senior libero Cassidy Cring added 27 digs.

Besides the loss on the scoreboard, the Generals also suffered the loss of starting outside hitter Lauren Flynn who went down with an ankle injury in the fourth set and had to leave the game.

Cecily Szady, sophomore, contributed 10 kills and two blocks as middle hitter and served at 100 percent. Junior setter Tori Vivenzio helped the team with 29 assists and two blocks.

The Generals have the week off from competition and will next hit the court on Friday, Oct. 23 against Saugus.
