Heather Ford Honored with Joanne Holbrook Patton Community Service Award

Hamilton-Wenham, March 25, 2025 – The Community House proudly announces Heather Ford as the recipient of the prestigious Joanne Holbrook Patton Award, recognizing her lifelong dedication to service and leadership. Ford’s commitment to public service spans decades and has made a lasting impact on many through her work in local government, environmental initiatives, and community programs.

From her early work on the Hamilton Conservation Commission to her leadership roles on the Waste Reduction Committee and the Board of Selectmen, Heather has consistently championed sustainability and civic engagement. Her dedication extended beyond governance, as she played a key role in establishing the town’s recycling and composting programs, initiatives that continue to benefit residents today.

Beyond her government contributions, Heather has been a tireless advocate for youth mentorship. As a Girl Scout Troop Leader for over a decade, she guided young women toward success, helping seven of her troop members achieve the esteemed Girl Scout Gold Award, an honor granted to only about 5% of eligible Girl Scouts nationwide. Today, Heather remains involved with the organization, serving on boards and committees focused on scholarships and long-term planning.

Recognizing a growing need in the community, Heather helped establish the Hamilton Foundation in 2005. The foundation evolved from the town’s Holiday Assistance Fund into a year-round resource supporting residents facing financial hardship. Through her leadership, the foundation now raises and distributes up to $20,000 annually to assist families with rent, utilities, and food security and will celebrate its 20th anniversary in May 2025.

Even with this well-earned recognition, Heather remains committed to service. She actively mentors STEM students and young professionals, passing on her knowledge and experience to the next generation of leaders. Her legacy of volunteerism and advocacy serves as an inspiration, proving that one person’s dedication can create lasting change.
