Route 1A Repaving Project in Ipswich to Last Until May
A one mile section of Route 1A in Ipswich will be repaved and undergo other repairs and upgrades during the next nine months.

Drivers along Route 1A in Ipswich should expect delays through next May as the road is repaved and sidewalks are repaired.
The state Department of Transportation said the $850,000 project is already underway along Route 133/1A from the Paradise Road intersection (near the Clam Box) to Kimball Avenue (near Ipswich High School).
The project will also include sidewalk repair, accessible ramp construction and stormwater management work, according to a MassDOT announcement on Friday. The new design will include narrower travel lanes to allow for wider shoulder areas for bicycles.

State Sen. Bruce Tarr, R-Gloucester said the one mile stretch of Route 133/1A is an important road for Ipswich and the region and it needs to be kept in good condition for residents, businesses and visitors. Tarr also represents Hamilton and Wenham.
