Severe Thunderstorms Possible Monday Afternoon, Evening

Parts of Massachusetts are also in a flood warning on Monday.

Keep an eye to the sky on Monday afternoon and evening.

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for most of Massachusetts, including Hamilton and Wenham.

A weak cold front is expected to approach Monday afternoon allowing for scattered showers and thunderstorms to develop.

"This cool front is a slow mover up in northern New England right now," WHDH meteorologist Jeremy Reiner said on his blog. "This slow moving front will settle into our part of the world very late this afternoon bringing a chance of some scattered t-storms."

The National Weather Service said a few of the storms will become strong to severe, with large hail, damaging wind gusts and cloud-to-ground lightning.

Heavy rainfall is also expected in these storms, resulting in some localized flooding.

The threat of the severe storms runs from 2-10 p.m.
