2020 U.S. Census: Hopkinton's Population Grew By 24 percent

Middlesex County added the most new residents of any county in the state.

HOPKINTON, MA — United States Census Bureau data for 2020 released last month shows that Hopkinton had tremendous population growth.

The town's population, according to the 2010 U.S. Census, is 14,925 and for the 2020 Census is 18,758, a whopping 23.9 percent increase, according to the U.S. Census.

The age group with the largest increase was persons under 18 years old, which grew by 26.5 percent, with 5.9 percent accounting for persons under 5 years of age.

Nearby Holliston's population grew from 13,547, according to the 2010 Census, to 14,996, according to the 2020 Census, a 10.1 percent increase, according to the U.S. Census.

Like in Hopkinton, the biggest growth in Holliston was seen in persons under 18 years of age, 25.4 percent, with 4.6 percent of that being persons under 5 years of age.

Middlesex County added 129,000 residents, the most new residents of any county in the state, increasing its population by 8.6 percent, according to the AP.

Secretary of State William Galvin says Massachusetts is the fastest-growing state in the Northeast, according to NBCBoston.

The total population for Massachusetts increased from more than 6.5 million according to the 2010 Census to just over 7 million according to the 2020 Census, a 5.3 percent increase, according to the U.S. Census.
