5 Things You Need to Know Today: May 1
Lot's of Hopkinton Town Election 2012 information is getting prepared. Stop by the town hall in person or online to get a copy of the warrant.

Our weekday morning column, 5 Things You Need to Know, provides you with information that can help you plan your day and give you some fodder for water cooler conversations.
1. Today is May Day; the historically European holiday is still celebrated in some parts of the United States by putting together a basket and leaving it on someone's doorstep ding-dong ditch style. If you get caught while running away a kiss is exchanged.
2. Today members of the and the Chamber of Commerce will be having meeting at the to get ready for the upcoming town election. All residents are invited to attend so they can be more informed when they attend town meeting. The meeting starts at 8 a.m.

3. Have you noticed the political signs popping up around town? The election is in three short weeks. Submit your letters of support to editor Sean O'Donnell by May 17 to have them featured on the site.
4. Hopkinton boys' track coach Michael Donahue has been submitting results from the team's recent track meets. If you want the score for your child's team to be posted in our Five Things email sean.odonnell@patch.com

A nice meet for many of our younger guys. Freshman Jake Benson won the long jump, took 2nd in the high hurdles and 3rd in the 400m hurdles. Freshman Derek Winshman took first in the 110 high hurdles, second in 400m hurdles and 3rd in the long jump. Sophomore Tim Towner won the triple jump and took 2nd in the high jump. Freshman Kyle Driscoll won the mile.
5. It looks like rain for most of today. Expect it to start as the kids are heading out the door to school and stop around 9 p.m. Temperatures will stay in the 40s throughout the day.
