Dangerous Weather Alerts Now Available on Smartphones
The CodeRed system and Hopkinton Town officials now allow residents to receive notifications to their iPhone and Android phones.

As Hopkinton officials work to help make the town a safer place to live, they have teamed up with Emergency Communications Network, LLC to bring residents notifications about dangerous situations.
The town already participates in the CodeRed program, which helps inform the community and visitors about important information that may impact their safety.
Now those who use smartphones can get notifications to their mobile device.

"The app works similarly to our current CodeRED system. If you have the app downloaded and are in the affected area of the alert, a notification will be sent through the app to alert you of the issue,” Fire Chief and head of the Emergency Management Team in Hopkinton Ken Clark said.
One of the features that Clark emphasized in a recent press release is that the system will link up with other town's where a person may be when they travel.

“The app is unique because, for example, if we have a Hopkinton resident who is traveling to another state that also uses the CodeRED system; they will receive any community or emergency alerts from that specific area as well. It’s just one extra way to stay safe when you’re away from home,” Chief Clark said.
Residents can sign up for free text, phone or email alerts through the CodeRed system already. The new smartphone app is one more free way for them to receive important public safety notices.
