Holliston Fire Dept. Hosts Wildfire Community Preparedness Day

The community is invited to attend the May 7 Wildfire Community Preparedness Day event to learn how to protect their homes from wildfires.

HOLLISTON – The Holliston Fire Department invites the public to attend its national Wildfire Community Preparedness Day event on Saturday, May 7 from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Thanks to a grant from State Farm and the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), the department will have an educational display at Holliston Hardware, 58 Central Street. Residents who stop by during the event will receive materials to help them learn ways they can reduce the risk that their homes and property will become fuel for a wildfire.

According to Fire Chief Michael Cassidy, the event is a unique opportunity for members of the community to make their community safer from the impacts of wildfires. “Holliston was the only project funded in Massachusetts,” explained Cassidy. “There are 125 funded projects covering a broad range of activities in 36 states on May 7.” In addition to educational materials and a chance to speak directly with fire officials, the local event will also feature promotions including gift cards, life safety devices, and other giveaways.
