Hopkinton Boating Company Wins Newton Boathouse Contract
Boston Outdoor Recreation, better known as Boating in Boston, could begin service on the Charles River as soon as this summer.

Visitors to Hopkinton State Park have been utilizing the canoe and kayak rentals put together by Boating in Boston , and now visitors to more Department of Conservation and Recreation parks will be using their equipment.
According to Boston.com , Boston Outdoor Recreation (the organizational name for Boating in Boston) won the bid to operate the boathouse on the Charles River in Newton.
"For decades, Charles River Canoe and Kayak has been moored to the state’s historic boathouse in Newton, offering paddling classes and renting equipment to scores of area families and boaters. But change is ahead," Boston.com reports.

Michael Aghajanian, President of Boston Outdoor Recreation, outbid other companies for the spot with a bid of $40,000 a year for the next three years. In addition, Boston.com reports that the company will provide free programs for veterans and improve handicap accessibility.
Boston Outdoor Recreation has won the bid, but according to Boston.com.com the company has not yet signed the contract. Aghajanian is reportedly working with Larry Smith, owner of Charles River Canoe and Kayak, on the transition plans.
