Hopkinton Couple Running Their First Boston Marathon Together
Jamie and Treavor Weeden are fundraising for the Hopkinton Public Library Foundation.

Jamie and Treavor Weeden moved to Hopkinton in 2007 and have had their sights set on running the Boston Marathon ever since. They are excited this year to be able to say they are running for the Hopkinton Public Library Foundation.
According to the couple's bio on the Hopkinton Public Library Foundations website, they believe that the renovation and expansion of a public library in Hopkinton would add to this community by giving the residents not only access to information and knowledge through books and technology sources, but also as a meeting place for residents to gather. From the children meeting in a room for story hour, to the teens having a meeting place for after school, to the book clubs and specialty interest groups that meet on a regular basis, everyone would benefit from this new facility.
Why are running the Boston Marathon?
We have done several marathons and endurance races together and are excited to be part of this world renowned race. Living in Hopkinton, the excitement and energy around race day is amazing and we decided that it was time to be part of that excitement and be able to give back to our community at the same time.
What connection do you have to the Library Foundation?
We live in Hopkinton and believe that the renovation and expansion of a public library in Hopkinton would add to the community by giving the residents not only access to information and knowledge through books and technology sources, but also as a meeting place for residents to gather.
What running experience do you have, have you ever run the Boston Marathon before?
We have run three marathons and several half marathons together. We also ran a 50K Trail Race together. We have not run Boston yet.
What advice do you have for new runners?
Be sure you get your long run in. Sometimes people get caught up in thinking they need to run every day and log serious mileage, but the most important element in training is making sure your legs know what it feels like when you are at mileage 22+. We routinely do a lot of cross training and usually do cross training and long runs on the same day to simulate the feeling of running when tired and sore.
Where is your favorite place to run in the area?
We like to map out routes that includes lots of back roads. We frequently run into Holliston and Sherborn where there are some great quiet roads.
