Hopkinton Police Log: Stolen Gift, Vandalized Decorations

Thursday, Dec. 20

12:12 a.m.: A person was taken into protective custody on Hayward Street.

3:24 a.m.: Police were doing a check of a motor vehicle on West Main Street. The person had fallen asleep while getting gas.

12:09 p.m.: Police received a 911 call for a tree down on Wood Street. Verizon was notified because one of its poles was damaged.

12:49 p.m.: Police received a past report of a breaking and entering into a motor vehicle on Hayden Rowe Street.

2:47 p.m.: A 911 caller on East Street reported a car accident. Police responded and requested an ambulance. There was property damage to a mailbox.

7:04 p.m.: A caller from Main Street reported she took custody of a dog after its owner could not care for it. The caller reported the owner now wanted the dog back. Officers spoke to the caller and took a report.

10:27 p.m.: A 911 caller from Canterbury Lane reported a disturbance of a man banging on his door claiming he had sold his iPhone and received counterfeit money.

Friday, Dec. 21

7:46 a.m.: A caller reported a two car crash on West Main Street. There was no personal injury. A vehicle was towed from the scene.

11:45 a.m.: A caller from Winter Street reported a pick up truck loaded with trash dropped a few bags of trash on the road and continued toward Wood Street. The caller believed the operator knew they dropped them. Police checked the area; there were a few bags that had been put out for trask pick-up on Winter Street.

2:23 p.m.: The bus office reported a student didn't want to get off the bus on Emma Drive because of an unknown car parked in front of their house. The bus office requested an officer. Police found two cars parked on the road; both belonged to town residents. Police spoke with the student and the student's mother; he was taken to a neighbor's house until his parents got home.

3:40 p.m.: A caller from Winter Street reported the theft of a card with a gift in it for his trash man.

5:26 p.m.: A caller reported a suspicious bicyclist on West Elm Street, who had just left a neighbor's house in a hurry. The caller said he knew the neighbor was not home. Police checked the area and didn't find anything suspicious.

8:41 p.m.: A caller reported a minivan full of youths kept driving by and yelling obscenities at her on Ash Street. Police responded and checked the area with a negative find.

Saturday, Dec. 22

10:52 a.m.: A car hit a deer on Chestnut Street.

12:20 p.m.: There was a report of hunters using scopes while hunting on Pond Street. According to the caller, you are not allowed to use scopes while hunting.

2:09 p.m.: There was a report of a grey Crown Victoria riding up behind people on Wilson Street and chirping a siren. The reporting party did not believe this person was a police officer.

7:36 p.m.: A caller reported his wife hit a deer on Cedar Street.

Sunday, Dec. 23

7:26 a.m.: Police assisted with gathering some loose horses on East Main Street.

8:59 a.m.: An anonymous caller from Forest Lane reported he could hear yelling and screaming from the neighbor's house. Police responded and spoke with the wife and husband, who were not having a domestic.

10:23 p.m.: A caller from Gibbon Road reported their Christmas decorations were vandalized. Nothing was broken but a few decorations were knocked over. Police checked the area.
