Hopkinton Technology Park Gains New Tenants

Town Meeting changes provide accommodations for new businesses in technology park.

For Hopkinton, the technology park has been a bustle of conversation ever since it's growth began with years ago.

With the town working to increase the availability of services in the area, growth has continued.

Last week at Town Meeting votes were taken to change the zoning bylaws so restaurants can be added as well as a convenience store. Both of which town meeting speakers said are vital drawing new businesses to the town.

According to Worcester Business Journal six new leases have been signed for the park in the past six months. The new businesses are in fields that already exist in Hopkinton but will now see even more growth.

"Biotech companies EpigenDX and Phosphorex Inc. each leased more than 5,000 square feet in a building within the park that is designed for life science companies. Solar companies Astrum Solar and Sky High Energy also took space in the complex. Instrument maker Lab Tech Inc. moved to the park from its previous location at the New Englander Industrial Park in Holliston, and HPC construction, which installs cellular towers and equipment, leased 6,000 square feet of warehouse space," the WBJ article said.

Although there is no tie to the town meeting changes because many of the leases were signed before the annual town meeting, they will help keep the workers at those businesses from spending their money for quick stops elsewhere.
