Hopkinton's 'The Spoon' Temporarily Closes After 40 Years
The restaurant announced its last day would be Sunday, "until further notice."
HOPKINTON, MA — A Hopkinton staple is getting ready to close its doors, but it may not be for good.
The Spoon, a mainstay on Lumber Street for the past 40 years, announced on Tuesday that it would close its doors for the winter. The announcement, published on the restaurant's website and Facebook page, said Jan. 10 will be the last day "until further notice."
"Our company is extremely grateful for the outpouring of support we have received during these troubling times and we hope to be able to show our appreciation under better circumstances. It is with your support over the years that we feel comfortable in our decision. We are looking forward to using this time to regroup, rest and set ourselves up for a better 2021 season," the announcement reads.
The Spoon offers breakfast and lunch foods as well as coffee and ice cream, with a fun local twist. On its 'About' page, the owners are described as "just a townie family trying to create a welcoming environment in the town we grew up in."
