Obituaries: Nor­man B. Mor­ri­son

Morrison was a World War II vet, serving in North Africa, and a Holliston resident for 35 years.

Nor­man B. Mor­ri­son Jr., 92, of Engle­wood, FL and formerly Holliston, passed away after a short ill­ness on Mon­day, May 28.

Born in Boston, Nor­man grad­u­ated from Brook­line High School in Mass­a­chu­setts in 1937 and from Nor­wich Uni­ver­sity in North­field, Vt., in 1941. A World War II vet­eran of the United States Army, he served in North Africa.

A res­i­dent of Hol­lis­ton, Mass., for 35 years, he was elected to the Hol­lis­ton School Com­mit­tee for sev­eral terms, also serv­ing as chair­man. He was a mem­ber of the Hol­lis­ton His­tor­i­cal Soci­ety and was appointed to var­i­ous town committees.

Nor­man was always active in church affairs. He was a found­ing mem­ber, senior war­den and vestry­man of St. Michael’s Epis­co­pal Church, and, after mov­ing to Engle­wood, he was a mem­ber, senior war­den and vestry­man of St. David’s Epis­co­pal Church.

He is pre-deceased by a brother, Ronald L., and a sis­ter, Peggy McGowan.

He leaves his lov­ing wife of 65 years, Mar­jorie (Shee­han); his three sons, Bruce J. (San­dra) of Burling­ton, Iowa, Brian J of Hunt­ing­ton, Mass. and Brett J. of Hol­lis­ton, Mass.; a brother, Alan F (Joy) of Need­ham; a sister-in-law, Alice; two grand­daugh­ters, Heather Dono­van and Jen­nifer West; two great grand­chil­dren, Ava and Conall Dono­van; spe­cial friends Cath­leen H. Mor­ri­son, Dr. Ken­neth and San­dra Janes, Richard and Linda Wood, and sev­eral nieces and nephews.

A memo­r­ial ser­vice will be held at a later date to be announced in the Chesmore Funeral Home of Holliston. Inurn­ment will be in the Mass­a­chu­setts National Ceme­tery in Bourne, Mass., at a later date.
