Police Log: Phone Scam, Loose Horses

Monday, May 21
6:21 a.m.: A driver called police after striking a deer on Underwood Street.
11:53 a.m.: A Holly Lane resident called police after being the victim of an attempted phone scam. An unknown caller told the woman he was her grandson living in Spain, and that he needed $1,800 wired to him to help with "legal trouble." The resident realized it was a scam and denied the caller the funds.

10:55 p.m.: responded to a report of loose horses on Fiske Street. The horses' owner was trying to catch them when police arrived and later took control of the animals.
