The Happy Retriever, More Than Treats and Training

Dorothy Turcotte wants to show dog owners that they don't need to go to Tennessee to rescue a dog.

So you want to rescue a dog, but you're scared about buying one online or traveling halfway across the country; don't worry. Stop by the Happy Retriever, located next to Bazel's, and talk to Dorothy Turcotte.

Turcotte will not only help you find the hound of your dreams, but she'll make sure it's trained and she'll even help you find top-notch products to keep your dog happy.

"We believe on the whole dog approach," Turcotte, who tries to train and place two rescue dogs a month, said.

Right now Turcotte has been working with Jasper, a dog currently under the care of Greyhound Friends, and Martin, who was rescued by Milford Animal Control.

"There are a lot of rescue dogs in the area, so you don't need to look that far to find a companion," Turcotte said.

Turcotte has been training dogs on the side for 8 years, but last September she began training dogs more permanently in Holliston. In March she opened the storefront where she carries only American made products.

She even helps support the Holliston Police Department's new K9 Cesh by raising money in the store.

You can meet Turcotte at this year's Spring Stroll, she will be with other vendor's in Jordan Hall.
