Lexington Residents Gather In Solidarity Against Police Brutality
Residents were joined by Senator Cindy Friedman in their protest against police brutality and in memory of George Floyd.

LEXINGTON, MA — Lexington residents came together on Wednesday night, joining thousands of protesters across the country against police brutality and systemic racism. The march comes in the wake of the death of George Floyd in the custody of Minneapolis police. Floyd was the Minneapolis man whose death was caught on video, as a Minneapolis police officer kneeled on his neck. The viral video has sparked protests and a call for change and an end to police brutality throughout the country.

In an act of solidarity, the group took a knee for Floyd. Just about everyone in the sizeable crowd wore a face covering, to limit the potential spread of the coronavirus.
Lexington police praised the protesters for the peaceful demonstration, writing on Facebook, "Last night there was an excellent showing by the residents and participants in a show of support and solidarity through out the town. The respectful and the peaceful manner in which everyone conducted themselves is what this country needs to all come together."
