Monday Essentials: Construction, Concerts and an Artisans Market
Here's the scoop on what's happening around Lexington this week.

1. Grove Street Roadwork: According to the town website, it's finally going to start today, July 22, and the roadway will be closed to all but local traffic from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be a posted detour around the work site via Gould, Turning Mill and Robinson roads.
2. Free Concert at Hastings Park: The Lexington Bicentennial Band will perform from 7:15 to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 23, at Hastings Park. Admission is free, and all are invited to bring picnics, beach chairs and blankets.
3. School Committee Retreat: At 4 p.m. this Wednesday, July 24, the School Committee will hold its annual retreat at the School Administration Building. The day's agenda includes going over the School Committee and Superintendent's roles and agendas.
4. Summer Concert Series Continues: The Tim Gartland Group will perform at 6:30 p.m., Friday, July 26, on the Visitors Center lawn as part of the Lexington Chamber of Commerce's Summer Concert Series.
5. Summer Artisans Market Opens: The ninth annual Lexington Arts and Crafts Society opens at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 27, featuring the LACS guilds. Opening day features a tent sale from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and, continuing through Aug. 11, the Parsons Gallery hosts a Summer Exhibit and Sale.
