• Conway resident reunites with the crew that rescued her runaway horse (recorder.com) — A Franklin County rescue crew tracked down a runaway draft horse in Conway after an all-night search, reuniting him with his relieved owner. One rescuer, who grew up around backyard ponies in Lexington, drew on lifelong horse experience to help. Their efforts highlight the behind-the-scenes animal work local officers do across Massachusetts.
   

• State extends highway plaza leases for 18 months (bostonglobe.com) — Drivers using the Lexington service plaza on I-95 should know MassDOT has extended leases for 18 highway service plazas statewide for 18 months after a planned operator backed out. McDonald’s will keep running most food operations, while MassDOT temporarily manages facilities and prepares a new long-term contract bid process.
