First Responders Mass At St. Maria Goretti Church
Sunday's event commemorates the 18th anniversary of the 9/11 tragedy.
A release from the Lynnfield Catholic Collaborative:
LYNNFIELD, Ma. - As we commemorate the 18th anniversary of the 9/11 tragedy this week, St. Maria Goretti Parish dedicated its 10 a.m. Mass on Sunday in appreciation of First Responders. Police officers, fire fighters, emergency medical personnel, and town leaders participated in the Mass by providing the First and Second Readings and Prayers of the Faithful, and serving as Gift Bearers and Eucharistic Ministers.
In Father Paul Ritt's homily, he offered this: "Perhaps the message we can take home with us today is something like this … when our best laid plans get interrupted or fall apart, God’s plan kicks in … and it never fails, because God provides for us by sending us First Responders and other good hearted people who serve us in times of need."
