Lynnfield Water District Recipient of Two Achievement Awards
Lynnfield, MA – The Lynnfield Water District is pleased to announce that the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (Mass DEP) recognized it with two distinct awards in late 2020. Not only was the District identified for overall “Outstanding Performance and Achievement”, but also for “Outstanding Performance and Achievement in Energy Conservation.”

The 2020 overall award acknowledged outstanding performance and achievement in 2019, for excellent adherence to state and federal drinking water regulations. In addition to stellar compliance in 2019, the award recognized the District for having no violations in the previous five years. Testing, system capacity, and exemplary efforts by the District were noted as part of the award; the District achieved one of the top compliance scores, and ranked in the top 12% of the state’s water systems.
The second award highlighted the District’s Energy Conservation efforts, which resulted in having reduced energy consumption of up to 38,000 kilowatts per year. This remarkable energy saving was the result of replacing older water pumping and heating systems with energy efficient systems and units. The District was recognized as having achieved one of the state’s top scores in the specific area of energy conservation.
