LYNNFIELD, MA — Outdoor skating is coming back to the North Shore sooner than you might think.

While it may be 60 degrees or more across the region next week, the holiday season is very much just around the corner, and this year that means the return of The MarketStreet Rink to MarketStreet Lynnfield for the first time since 2019.

The rink was not run last year because of the coronavirus health crisis.

This year's rink is set to open on Nov. 13 at 10 a.m and will be accompanied by six cast iron chimenea gas fire pits and benches.

MarketStreet Lynnfield will also feature an illuminating spectacle of new rink lights surrounding the ice with a rotating playlist of music hits and seasonal favorites.

This year's MarketStreet Rink will also have the warming tent, with skate rentals available. The rink is scheduled to be open through February on The Green, near lululemon, J.Crew and JP Licks.

"We could not be happier to bring the MarketStreet Rink back for families to enjoy the season together in the fresh air," General Manager Charlotte Woods said. "We are grateful for the opportunity to be a community hub that offers something magical for everyone."

A live DJ will be performing during the opening weekend from noon to 2 p.m. on Nov. 13 with complimentary hot chocolate for the first 500 skaters, special treats from businesses and appetizer vouchers for Davio's Northern Italian Steakhouse.

Hourly giveaways and complimentary winter items will be provided throughout the weekend while supplies last.

The rink will be open Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3 to 8 p.m., Wednesdays from 1 to 8 p.m., Fridays from 3 to 9 p.m., Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The rink will be open at 10 a.m. on school winter break and February vacation.

Skating conditions and hours are weather-dependent.

Skating admission for all ages for $10 with children 3 and under free. Skating rentals are available for $5.
