Box Truck Rollover Spills Fuel On Rt. 1
The driver and passenger of the truck were hospitalized with serious injuries early Saturday, state police said.
SAUGUS, MA — A box truck rolled over and caught fire in Saugus, spilling fuel on Route 1 early Saturday.
State police said the crash happened around 5:18 a.m. on the southbound side of the highway, at the parking lot of the CVS. The driver and passenger of the truck were extricated by firefighters and taken to Massachusetts General Hospital with serious injuries.
The truck spilled a "large amount" of fuel into the parking lot of the CVS on Route 1 South. Firefighters curtailed the spill, and environmental protection officials responded to the scene to assess any hazards.
