Everett Man Was Street Racing In Crash That Killed Two: DA

Investigators say Tyriek Brown, 26, was racing another car when he fatally struck two people in Lowell Thursday.

LOWELL, MA – An Everett man is facing charges in a crash that killed two pedestrians in Lowell Thursday. Investigators say 26-year-old Tyriek Brown was racing another car in the westbound lane of Pawtucket Boulevard when he veered off the road and struck two people around 6:30 p.m.

The victims were identified as Jose Medina, 66, and Fernanda Medina, 62, both of Lowell. They were taken to Lowell General Hospital, where they were pronounced dead.

Brown was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. He was arrested and charged with motor vehicle homicide and manslaughter Thursday night, the Middlesex District Attorney's office said.

The car Brown was believed to be racing fled the scene, the DA said. Investigators are looking to speak with that driver.
