Five Things You Need to Know Today in Malden

Firefighters will speak out, bellies will be flashed, and babies will sing.

Today is Tuesday, Oct. 5. Here are five things you need to know about today.

  1. You can listen to firefighters speak their mind: Firefighter Union President Brian Parow will address the City Council about public safety in the city. The meeting starts at 7 p.m.
  2. You can find out if your kid is the next Mel Torme: Malden Public Library is hosting Song and Rhyme Time for wee tiniest Maldonians and their parents today at 10:30 a.m. The program is geared towards babies and toddlers aged 6 to 36 months.
  3. You can start that novel you always wanted to write: A writer's group meets at the senior center today at 1 p.m.
  4. You can dance like Rita Hayworth in Salome: A belly-dancing lesson at the senior center begins at 5:30 p.m.
  5. You can learn about the Middlesex Fells: There are a lot of stories in these woods. Learn about the history of the Middesex Fells at 5:30 p.m. in the library. Middlesex Fells Reservation Executive Director Mike Ryan will lead the discussion.
