Malden 2021 Election Starts Taking Shape
See who has pulled papers for local office this year.
MALDEN, MA — Malden's municipal election will be held Tuesday, Nov. 2. The Ward 8 city councillor's race will necessitate a preliminary election, which will take place Sept. 14.
Candidates have until Aug. 10 to file certified papers with the City Clerk's office. Below are the candidates who have received enough signatures for the ballot as of July 29.

Dates to Know:
- August 25 8:00 P.M. close of registration for the preliminary
- September 7 5:00 P.M. first campaign finance statement due
- September 14 PRELIMINARY
- September 20 5:00 P.M. last day and hour to withdraw from nomination at the preliminary or petition for a recount of votes or, if a preliminary is not held, to withdraw from nomination for the final election
- October 13 8:00 P.M. close of registration for election
- October 25 5:00 P.M. second campaign finance statement due
- November 2 ELECTION
- November 12 5:00 P.M. last day and hour to petition for recount of votes at election
- January 20, '22 Final campaign finance statement due
Register to Vote:
The deadline to register or update voter status is 20 days before the election. The deadline for voter registration for the September Preliminary is August 25. The deadline for the November Election is October 13.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, City Hall is currently open to the public by appointment only. A representative of the City Clerk’s Office will remain available until 8 p.m. for voter registration on August 25 and October 13 per scheduled appointments. Voter registration may also be done 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by visiting www.sec.state.ma.us/ovr/.
