Malden Celebrates Park's New Additions

FitzGerald Park recently received a heavy investment.

MALDEN, MA — City leaders came together for a formal ribbon cutting ceremony for the newly-renovated FitzGerald Park on Centre Street.

Construction began last fall on the $375,000 project that was funded through a combination of Community Development Block Grant and Community Preservation Act funds. Shadley Associates and JAM Corporation were selected to design and construct the changes respectively. Features of the new park include a dinosaur-shaped play structure, new benches and tables, a painted sidewalk surface, a new fence, additional trees and landscaping, and an interactive play panel.

Mayor Gary Christenson, who attended the launch event, said that the improvements make what was already a city gem even greater.
