Second Time Is The Charm: Malden Police Sergeant Retires Again
The sergeant's career totaled nearly 40 years between both tenures.

MALDEN, MA — A police sergeant has retired for the second time after totaling nearly 40 years of service.
Don Ritchie officially called it a career Wednesday as he was honored and celebrated by his peers. His first tenure included 33 years with most of those as a sergeant in the Criminal Investigations Division. After a short-lived retirement, Ritchie returned to the department, or what he referred to as “home” in 2019 to be the department’s crime analyst.
Ritchie named the desire to spend more time with family and friends as well as to travel as main reasons for his latest retirement decision.
