Shooting Reported at Harvard St. Park: Malden Police have confirmed a shooting occurred near Harvard Park late Sunday morning, though no injuries were reported. Witnesses on social media reported hearing 3-4 shots during an altercation between a group of people at the park. 

City Asks Readers to Take Survey on Blue Bags: Recently Mayor Gary Christenson assembled a volunteer group of Malden residents to thoroughly examine Malden’s waste disposal process and the Pay-As-You-Throw (PAYT) program. The group will issue a report along with recommendations to the Mayor about potentially modifying the program based on a review of data and input from the community. A survey of nine questions has been prepared that will aid the group in its report and recommendations.

Emerson School Purchase Moves Forward: The purchase of Emerson School by the Mystic Valley Regional Charter School took another step forward Tuesday night, when the city's public property committee approved moving forward with the deal. The purchase agreement will be drafted by the city solicitor and awaits approval by the full council next Tuesday.

Mystic Valley Girls Knocked from Tourney: The Mystic Valley girls’ soccer team was knocked out of the MIAA Tourney Saturday night by Weston. Weston went on to win the Regional Championship on Monday. They outscored their opponents 21-1 in the tournament including their 8-0 win over Mystic Valley.

Library fees waived: During November, Malden Public Library will run a three-week drive to encourage the return of overdue library materials to its shelves. Any overdue book, magazine, CD, or DVD returned to Malden Public Library from November 1st through Thanksgiving will have the associated fine waived.
