5 Things To Do This Weekend

Here are Marblehead Patch's top five weekend picks.

Summer is here and there is no shortage of things to do locally. The weather is supposed to hold out so keep the car in the garage and take part in a variety of events around town with your neighbors this weekend.

1. Help - Volunteers will be meeting at Beach Bluff Park at Preston Beach tomorrow at 10 a.m. to clean the paths and benches in the park and along the beach. At 11 a.m., Hands Across Sand will join in a nation-wide demonstration protesting the Gulf Oil gusher and support conservation and clean, renewable energy. 

2. Play - A learn-to-row class at Little Harbor Boat House on Saturday and Sunday from 9 to 11 a.m. Open House is scheduled for tomorrow  from 10 a.m. to noon. Meet the coaches. Register for Learn-to-Row and Teen Rowing Camp and see the new Boathouse on Little Harbor. www.rowingforall.com

3. Watch - Marblehead's Model Yacht Club will hold a regatta at Redd's Pond tomorrow at 1 p.m. Check out this town tradition. 

4. Chill -  Marblehead Summer Jazz series will continue with a performance by Harry Allen tomorrow at 8 p.m. at 28 Mugford St. Price: advance: $25; door: $27; preferred seating: $30

5. Enjoy - Marblehead Little Theatre's Production of national favorite "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee" will take place Saturday, June 26 at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., Sunday, June 27 at 2 pm., Thursday, July 1 at 7:30 p.m., Friday, July 2 at 7:30 p.m., and Saturday, July 3 at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. The MLT is located at 12 School St. Tickets are $20 in advance, $25 at the door and $15 for students. Tickets can be purchased Online at TicketStage.com or ordered by check or cash using ticket forms available on the front door of the theatre. Tickets may also be purchased at the MLT box office one hour before show time.
