Bright summer hues are ready to give way to reds, greens and browns at local florist Flores Mantilla. They say they are ready for the season with new arrivals like peppers, seedum, kale, mums, succulents and ivy. The store also does customized design work. 

JUST IN TIME

Just in time for sports season, Marblehead Sports Supply is having a sidewalk sale today. Earlier in the day Thursday, residents were poking around a selection of sneakers and athletic equipment. Get geared up at the family-owned shop on Pleasant Street.

HIGH HONORS

Header Jim Coppersmith, former station manager for WCVB-TV is being inducted this afternoon into the Massachusetts Broadcasters Hall of Fame. Coppersmith is one of 17 radio and television broadcasters to be inducted  into the Hall of Fame.  Honorees will include radio personality Bruce Arnold, on-air radio personality and station executive Phil D. (Phil G. Drumheller), American Rock & Roll Hall of Fame radio disc jockey Dale Dorman, esteemed TV news anchor Tom Ellis, WBZ news man Gary Lapierre, WBUR FM's 35-year host of ¡Con Salsa! Jose Masso, radio executive and manager Philip A. Weiner, WCVB-TV'S investigative reporter and anchor Janet Wu, WBUR FM, National Public Radio host of Here & Now Robin Young, and 102-year-old former Regional Vice President of Westinghouse Wilmer "Bill" C. Swartley, Jr.

AUTUMNAL ELEGANCE 

What better place to take in a crisp fall evening than at the Lee Mansion? Next Thursday, Sept. 23, from 6 to 8 p.m. the Marblehead Museum will host a wine tasting with wine provided by Shubie's. Tickets are $25 and are limited. Call the museum for details. Think - perfect wines and light hors d'oeuvres by candle light in the Lee Mansion. And it's all for a good cause!
