Police Log: Man Leaves Car, Takes Bike In Thunderstorm
This is an excerpt from the Marblehead Police Log on Thursday, July 22 to Friday, July 23.
- At 4:30 p.m. Thursday, a Front Street resident called police from her New Hampshire vacation after she got a call from her contractor that he went by the house and saw a large crack in the foundation. The contractor told her it looked as if a car had hit the house. The woman thought it could have been from the recycling truck. Police looked at the house and it does look like someone tried to make a wide turn made the crack. The woman was advised to call the Board of Health.
- At 5:55 p.m. Thursday, a man walked into the station and said he was visiting his wife's grave when he saw money on the ground. He believed it fell out of someone's pocket. He turned the money in and refused to give his name.
- At 6:17 p.m. a vehicle was stopped on Humphrey Street for littering.
- At 7:01 p.m. a caller reported glass shavings along the sidewalk on Pleasant Street.
- At 7:59 p.m. Thursday, Manchester Police called Marblehead Police because they found a Marblehead resident's car parked near the woods. People saw a man enter the woods, but never come out. Marblehead Police went to the man's home in Marblehead, but there was no answer. The windows of the home were open and dogs were inside with no lights on. When neighbors saw the police, they came out and said he is "into physical fitness." Police were finally able to get in touch with the man via cell phone. The man said he was caught in a thunderstorm and decided it would be faster to bike home to Marblehead rather than drive. The man will pick up his car in Manchester later.
- At 8:31 p.m. a man called police to tell them he was driving on Gerry Street when a black Honda Pilot, driven by a young male, cut him off and gave him the finger.
