Police Log: Texting While Driving And A Smoking Lawn Mower
The following excerpt is from the Marblehead Police Log from Saturday, August 14 to Sunday, August 15.

- At 10:41 a.m. Saturday, a Gerry Street resident requested some enforcement of the speeding and texting while driving on her street. She said she lives at the crest of the hill and is very cautious when backing out of her driveway. She said she usually beeps when backing out. On Saturday morning, the woman said a truck came over the hill and nearly hit her. When she asked him to slow down, he told her to "expletive" off. The woman said she also sees teenagers texting as they go by and said her neighbors park right under the No Parking sign and nothing is done about it. The woman said she believes the police also go too fast on Gerry Street.
- At 11:22 a.m. Saturday, a Clifton Avenue resident called police and reported smoke in the area. The family went down the street and found another resident working on his lawnmower. The person said that when he changes the oil, the mower smokes like that. The owner of the mower then went out to mow the lawn with the mower still smoking.
- At 12:11 p.m. Saturday, a woman told police she and her husband were crossing Tedesco Street in an area where there are no crosswalks and a BMW came racing up to them. The driver reportedly yelled at them to use a crosswalk. The woman said there are only two crosswalks on Tedesco and they are spread very far apart. The caller was upset about the speeding driver and more upset about not enough crosswalks.
- At 12:59 p.m. Saturday, a caller, who would only identify himself as "a neighbor," said there were cars illegally parked at Gregory and Hawkes streets.Â
- At 4:02 p.m. Saturday, the owner of the Seagull Inn said a car was blocking her driveway. Police called the owner of the car who said his wife was driving it and was at the Corinthian Yacht Club. He called her call phone and told her to move it.
- At 5:23 p.m. Saturday, a driver got a flat tire on Beacon Street after driving on Parker Lane. The person said there were nails in the street from work being done on a fence.
- At 9:16 p.m. a Wyman Road resident told police another woman "got in her face and called her names." The woman said she "is better than that." She
also said that she thinks the woman who was in her face is on probation and possibly drunk.
