100 Years Ago: After 8 Weeks in Swamp Local Man Expected to Survive

Six days a weeks (Mon—Sat) Marlborough Patch will highlight an interesting story from the Marlborough Daily Enterprise published on that date 100 years ago.

June 17, 1911: Thought Hanley Will Recover: Everything Tends to Show that He Spent Eight Weeks in Swamp

That the light of reason is returning to William D. Hanley, found in the fastness of Cedar Samp, near the Gilmore brickyards and over the Westboro line, seems apparent, and there seems strong probability of his recovering despite his weakened condition brough about by 56 days of exposure and starvation, which came to him as a result of his strange sojourn. He is located at the home of his brother, John J. Hanley, 45 Liberty St., and with the exception of a clergyman, physician, trained nurse and members of his family, nobody is admitted to the room.
