100 Years Ago: Local Hotel Clerk Dies on the Job

July 7, 1911: Hotel Clerk Dies Suddenly: Daughter Finds James Corcoran Dead on Floor of Room in Hotel
James Corcoran, 55 years old, employed as a clerk in the Worcester Hotel, was found dead in his room on the third floor this Friday morning about 7:30. The man was discovered by his daughter, Lizzie Corcoran, who comes to the hotel daily to assist in the work about the house.
She desired to go into the room to make a change of clothing and fining the door locked rapped repeatedly. Finding no response she went to the floor above and going down the fire escape entered the room through the window. She was horrified to find the body of her father lying on the floor beside the bed. Miss Corcoran was prostrated by the sight. Landlord Timothy Reardon was hurriedly called to the room and considerable excitement prevailed.
