5 Things You Need To Know Today: June 20

Here is a list of things going on in and around Marlborough today.

1. Today looks as though it will be a nice, uneventful day with sunny skies and a high of 81 degrees, says the National Weather Service

2. The Marlborough Economic Development Corporation sent out their monthly newsletter last, and in it asked people to take their visual preference survey. If you get a few minutes, help the MEDC develop a master plan for our city.

3. According to a recent Worcester Business Journal article, the Small Business Administration has announced it will make disaster loans to businesses in Worcester County that were damaged or destroyed in the recent tornadoes.

4. Individuals interested in obtaining a Graduate Equivalency Diploma (GED) should register on July 5 at from 4 to 7 p.m. You must bring a photo ID, a money order for $65 made out to Assabet Valley (no cash or check accepted), and, if you are between 16 and 18 years old, a letter from your high school stating the date of withdrawal. The GED test will be given at Assabet Valley on July 26, 27, and 28 from 4-7 p.m. (You must be present all three nights.) The next registration session would not be until October. For more information, call Andrea Cronin at 508-485-9430, ext. 1216.

5. The EPA recently posted a reminder that with the nice days and hot temperatures comes an increased risk of sun damage and skin cancer.
