Bear With The Bears: Police Confirm Sighting In Marlborough

The bear was apparently attracted to a bird feeder in the yard. There is no cause for alarm at this time.

MARLBOROUGH, MA—Police tell Marlborough residents: there is no cause for alarm, and be sure to educate yourself.

About bears. Because one was spotted on Wednesday on Bigelow Street in a resident's back yard. According to police, the bear did not appear to be sick or injured and a patrol officer did confirm the sighting. The bear, said police, ran off shortly after, and it appears this bear was attracted to a bird feeder in the yard.

"It is advisable to take down any bird feeders for the time being," said police.

As police reminded us, "it's springtime in New England," so the spotting of bears and other wildlife is not uncommon.
