Developer Proposes 17 Units In Former Marlborough Armory
Developer George Voyiatzis is proposing a mix of one and two-bedroom units for the historic Lincoln Street building.

MARLBOROUGH, MA — A local developer and former downtown restaurateur is planning to turn an historic, vacant downtown building into apartments.
Developer George Voyiatzis has submitted plans to the city seeking permission to build 17 residential units inside the former Marlborough armory building at 358 Lincoln St. The building has been vacant for more than 30 years after serving as a National Guard armory dating to 1905.
Voyiatzis, the former owner of the Fish Restaurant and Urban Kitchen in Worcester, is seeking a special permit to build 15 two-bedroom and two one-bedroom units inside the old armory. The project is called "The Armory on French Hill."

The armory project would be located less than a block from a new residential development underway near the corner of Lincoln and Mechanic streets. The Alta Marlborough project will have 276 units spread across several buildings, according to plans.
The Marlborough City Council's Urban Affairs Committee typically reviews multifamily developments before the full council signs off.
