MARLBOROUGH, MA — A shuttered Marlborough restaurant will soon reopen as an eatery that may be familiar to local diners.

A Don Patron Mexican restaurant will soon open in the former Halfway Cafe along the Boston Post Road. Don Patron will be a sister restaurant to Acapulco's Mexican Family Restaurant, according to the Facebook foodie group Chew On This.

The Halfway Café, 820 Boston Post Road East, had been open in Marlborough for about 23 years. In a Facebook post in May 2021, the owners said the closure came after they received a good offer on the property.

"We received an offer we couldn't refuse, and thus we have decided to sell our Marlborough location. Due to labor and shortages, we were forced to close the restaurant earlier than anticipated," the Halfway owners said at the time.
