Fire Engulfs Suburban on 495 North
Seven people escaped a suburban before it was engulfed by flames on the side of 495.
Seven people escaped a blaze that engulfed and destroyed a Chevrolet Suburban Thursday between exit 25 and 26 on 495 North.
Berlin and Hudson fire departments responded to the car fire at 2:14 p.m. By that time, the entire vehicle was on fire, said Berlin Deputy Fire Chief George Pendergast who explained the cause of the fire may never be known.
“It is hard to determine that after it is all burned up,” he said.

The driver of the SUV pulled over before it was fully on fire and no one was injured, said Pendergast. No other vehicles were involved or damaged in the fire, he said.
A total of two fire engines and one ambulance responded to the scene although no one was transported for injuries.
