Marlborough Library Reopening In October After 2 Year Renovation
Marlborough's new library has been under construction since September 2021. The public will get to see the results in October.
MARLBOROUGH, MA — The two-year, $24 million renovation of the Marlborough Public Library has reached its end.
The city will reopen the new building to the public on Oct. 2 following a renovation that has enlarged the historic building with a new addition.
"The new library will enhance the lives of our community members for years to come. I can’t wait to open the doors and welcome Marlborough residents in," new Marlborough Public Library Director Sara Belisle said.

The renovation removed a 1960s-era addition and replaced it with a new one, adding about 16,000 square-feet of space to the library. Some new amenities include a café, larger meetings rooms, an area for teens, a larger children's area and restoration of the building's historic features. The original building is a Carnegie library.
The library was housed in the Walker Building over the last two years. But that space closed in August in anticipation of the new building reopening.

The city broke ground on the renovation in Sept. 2021. The total cost of the renovation was funded in part by donations and a $10 million grant from the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners.
