Marlborough Library Opens To Public Today For First Time In 2 Years
A construction project that kicked off two years ago is finally complete. Now Marlborough residents can see the results.
MARLBOROUGH, MA — It's time to check out books in Marlborough again.
The Marlborough Public Library reopens to the public Monday following a two-year, $24 million renovation that expanded the downtown building and restored some of its historic features.
The renovation removed a 1960s-era addition and replaced it with a new one, adding close to 16,000 square-feet of space to the library. Some new amenities include a café, larger meetings rooms, an area for teens, a larger children's area and restoration of the building's historic features. The original building is a Carnegie library.

The city broke ground on the renovation in Sept. 2021. The total cost of the renovation was funded in part by donations and a $10 million grant from the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners.
