According to a state filing, more than 200 workers at the three related Marlborough-based companies will lose jobs by the end of June.

MARLBOROUGH, MA — A new round of layoffs will sweep three related biotech and pharmaceutical companies based in Marlborough, according to a state filing.
Sunovion Pharmaceuticals, Inc., Sumitomo Pharma America Holdings, Inc. and Sumitomo Pharma Oncology, Inc. will lay off a combined 223 workers at its Marlborough offices, according to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Act (WARN) filed Friday.
The upcoming layoffs are the second round for the Japanese drugmaker. The company cut about 360 jobs in January.

A spokesperson for the company did not immediately return a request for comment. A spokesperson for Sunovion — a subsidiary of Sumitomo — told the Boston Globe in November the job cuts were done to "reflect both the external landscape and Sunovion’s evolving commercial portfolio."
The Marlborough Sunovion Pharmaceuticals building is located along Robin Hill Drive near an I-290 ramp.
